Putney Town Manager Karen Astley told the Selectboard on Nov. 13 that the town was awarded a $402,500 Municipal Energy Resilience Program grant and a $9,392 Better Roads Category A grant to fund an erosion-control inventory.
Astley said the energy-resilience contract must be signed by Dec. 16 and that staff have asked the Windham Regional Commission for scoring details on the awards. She also reported recent multiple mutual-aid emergency responses, praising local emergency responders who responded to simultaneous incidents earlier in November.
On technology and operations, Astley said CII Managed Services has installed new firewalls and that a proposed new town server is estimated at $10,058; she said that expense will be charged to an appropriate general-fund line item. She said budgets for the library, highway, sewer and water are in draft and that she is meeting with Fire & Rescue to review capital needs.
Astley flagged the town's wastewater contract as a concern, saying the contract could increase by as much as 30% because the system is aging and requires growing time and labor to maintain.
