Putney Selectboard awards town hall renovation contract, approves pool grant match and applies for Better Roads grant

At its Oct. 30 meeting the Putney Selectboard approved several items related to capital projects and grant-making. Sue Coakley, of the Town Hall Renovation Committee, presented the committee's recommendation to hire Vermont Integrated Architecture to provide architectural and engineering services for the Renew Putney Town Hall project. Eric McGowan moved to empower the Town Manager to contract with Vermont Integrated Architecture for an amount not to exceed $54,600, with the ability to extend the contract up to $200,000 for additional services; Peg Alden seconded and the motion passed.
The board also voted to adopt the Renew Putney Town Hall Project Management Roles and Responsibilities as written, a procedural step intended to clarify responsibilities for the renovation effort.
On other capital items, Town Manager Karen Astley reported the town was awarded a grant that covers 50% of the cost to replace two sets of steel doors at the Putney Pool. The Selectboard approved expending $11,763.50 from the Pool Fundraising Fund as the required local match, on a motion by Eric McGowan and second by Peg Alden.
Astley also recommended pursuing a FY25 Better Roads Category A Grant to complete a road erosion inventory, noting the assessment will be due in 2027. The estimated project cost is $11,740 with a $2,348 local match; the board voted to send a letter of intent to participate.
The meeting included routine financial reporting (September quarterly reports) and a holiday schedule adjustment to avoid meetings on Nov. 27 and Dec. 25. Several standing items (a Controlling the Use of Alcoholic Beverages ordinance and other advisory committee items) were reported as "no progress" and remain pending in future agendas. The board adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
