The Tangipahoa Parish Council elected its officers for 2025 during the Jan. 13 meeting in Amite. Chairman David Vial was nominated and elected by acclamation following a roll call; Council Vice‑Chair Brigette Hyde and Clerk of Council Jill DeSouge were also elected by roll call votes.
The nominations opened during the meeting: Mrs. Brigette Hyde nominated Mr. David Vial for chairman and Mrs. Hyde nominated Mrs. Jill DeSouge for clerk. Motions to close nominations and to elect were carried by roll call vote. The minutes record Yea votes from all members present.
In board appointments, the council approved Carl J. Foster to fill an unexpired term on the Amite Area Recreation District No. 3 board through April 2025. The motion was made by Councilman Louis Joseph and seconded by Councilman Joseph Havis; the roll call vote was recorded as Yea by all members present.
Other business included Vice‑Chair Brigette Hyde’s announcement that the parish’s 2045 Comprehensive Plan website (www.tangi-2045.com) is live, and Councilman Louis Joseph encouraging donations and noting he plans to donate blood in response to a recent incident in New Orleans.
The meeting adjourned after a motion from Councilman Louis Joseph with no opposition.
