Fingon described the foundation as a fiduciary steward that partners with school guidance offices, encouraging donors and classes to increase endowment amounts so awards keep pace with inflation and reach students pursuing diverse career paths. He noted the foundation facilitates two awards specifically for Stafford Technical Center students, including a tools-for-trades scholarship to help graduates purchase equipment needed to begin careers.
On district programming, Executive Director Marie Gilmond reported the afterschool and summer programs served 738 students during the school year and summer, with 46% of participants reaching 90-plus hours of programming — a level the program cites as correlated with academic and social gains. Gilmond highlighted national certification in mental health literacy for two school teams and described upcoming summer offerings including a magic residency and a Kindergarten Readiness Camp supported by the Bowse Health Trust.
Student representatives Amelia Shelton (outgoing) and Danielle Goldberg provided school updates, and the board recognized Shelton and welcomed incoming student representative Sophia Wu, introduced by Principal Greg Schillinger. Stafford Technical Center achievements noted in the report included senior award totals and SkillsUSA medalists and certificates.
Next steps: the foundation invited community donations and endowment initiatives; afterschool leadership will continue program expansion and summer programming supported by grant and trust funding.
