Selectboard appoints Erik Unhjem to Planning Commission, names TCA representative; tables health officer appointment

The board unanimously appointed Erik Unhjem to a three-year term on the Planning Commission following a motion by Judy Scott and second by Adam Dantzscher. It also approved Adam Dantzscher’s motion to appoint Sarah Tischler as the Selectboard’s representative to the Town Center Association.
The board discussed the Town Health Officer role after Chair Joel Colf described the duties and referenced an ongoing incident at the St. George Community Co-op that the chair is overseeing. Judy Scott moved to appoint Selectboard member Asher A.J. Menashe as Town Health Officer; questions about available training and the scope of the state-run program prompted a motion by Adam Dantzscher to table any recommendation so the board could familiarize itself further with the Town Health Officer manual and for the chair and Asher to work through the ongoing situation. The motion to table passed unanimously.
The Selectboard said it will return to the health officer appointment after members have time to review responsibilities and training requirements.
Appointments and the tabled recommendation were recorded as motions and voted on during the March 19 meeting.
