Miltona Township approves street vacation, routine finance items and road repairs

Miltona Township’s board met March 10, 2025, approved a street‑vacation resolution and completed several routine financial and road‑maintenance actions.
The meeting opened at 7:00 p.m. with Jerome Haggenmiller presiding. The board approved the February minutes and the Board of Audit minutes on a motion by Matt Kugler, seconded by Brent Boesl; both motions carried 3-0. The treasurer reported total funds of $483,094.82 (checking $33,943.89; money market $1,002.30; Intrafi $448,148.63). A motion to accept the treasurer’s report and to pay bills totaling $17,263.81 carried 3-0.
The board approved Resolution 2025-2, vacating a portion of Park Avenue and 1st Street, after the township attorney requested and the landowner’s counsel made edits to the draft resolution; the motion to approve carried 3-0. The minutes note that DNR grant funds were direct deposited in January and that the township received a gas tax deposit of $32,492.81 the prior month.
On road materials and repairs, the board accepted a 2025 chloride quote at $1.35 per gallon on a motion that carried 3-0. The board also authorized Bargen to perform crack repair and replay clear seal on Smokey Timbers Road; that motion (moved by Matt Kugler, second by Jerome Haggenmiller) carried 3-0. A second, similar quote for Hidden Valley Road was approved conditionally pending approval by Leaf Valley Township.
The board reviewed a proposed 2026 budget and levy and planned to present it to electors at the annual meeting the next evening. The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Miltona Community Center.
