Putney backs Windham County regional policing pilot and offers municipal representative

Sheriff Mark Anderson of the Windham County Sheriff’s Office presented a proposal on Aug. 7 for a regionalization policing project designed to create a funding mechanism to support regional sheriff services.
Anderson requested municipal endorsements and asked each town to name a representative to a task force. Town Manager Karen Astley signaled interest in serving as Putney’s representative to the committee and the board approved a motion to support development of a pilot regional policing project as presented.
The minutes record that the project is moving toward community input; no funding commitment or formal intermunicipal agreement was recorded at the meeting.
