Board schedules roof-specialist visit, allows 60-day extension for modular removal; elementary floor and alarm issues noted

During its Aug. 19 meeting, the Oelrichs School District 23-3 board discussed multiple facilities items tied to ongoing construction and maintenance.
Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Stone told the board she would schedule a meeting and onsite visit with roof specialists to address issues related to high school construction. Stone also reported she met with the owner of a modular classroom; the owner asked for more time to arrange removal and the board approved a 60-day extension, setting a new removal deadline of Oct. 9.
H2I inspected a problem with an elementary classroom wood floor and said it could take a section apart to determine the cause. After discussion the board decided to take no immediate action on the floor at this time. Stone also reported problems with an elementary electrical panel and the fire alarm system; she has contacted the county auditor regarding an errors-and-omissions insurance claim packet and will complete the submission.
These facilities matters — roof concerns, modular removal scheduling, floor inspection and electrical/fire-alarm issues — will require follow-up by district administration and facilities staff before the start of regular classes.
