Oelrichs board accepts FY2024 audit clearance, approves financials, bonuses, snow-removal bid and senior-trip funding

The Oelrichs School District 23-3 Board of Education on Nov. 18, 2024, accepted the district's Fiscal Year 2024 audit review by the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit and approved a set of routine financial motions, including a contribution to the senior class trip and seasonal contracts.
Business Manager Sword informed the board that the FY2024 audit had been reviewed and accepted by the South Dakota Department of Legislative Audit. The board then moved to accept unaudited financial reports and to pay all invoiced claims; that motion passed.
The board approved a $300 (gross) Christmas bonus for each staff member and contracted administration, to be made available at the district's Dec. 13 staff Christmas party. By motion, the board also approved paying for option 1 from Rodeo Grounds Restaurant to host the party for each staff member plus one guest.
To prepare for winter operations, the board awarded the district's 2024-2025 snow-removal contract to Rocking RK Enterprises at a rate of $125 per hour (equipment and operator included; sidewalks excluded unless requested). Board member Katie Merdanian abstained from that vote; the motion carried.
The board additionally voted to contribute $1,000 toward a senior-class trip to Rapid City for qualifying seniors who meet grade and attendance standards; the senior class will fund the remainder through fundraising.
Financial detail in the minutes lists ending balances for the district's funds, including a General Fund ending balance of $159,843.90 and Impact Aid balances reported.
What happens next: The district will distribute bonuses at the Dec. 13 party, notify Rocking RK Enterprises to begin snow-removal services under the agreed terms, and record further payment and budget activity in future financial reports.
