Oelrichs School Board approves coaching contracts, hires custodians and rules job-abandonment

The Oelrichs School District 23-3 Board of Education approved several personnel actions at its Nov. 18, 2024, meeting, including extra-duty coaching contracts and two custodial hires, and voted to consider a staff member's separation as job abandonment.

Dr. Mitchell Stone, superintendent, reported routine personnel business before the board. By motion, the board approved extra-duty agreements for Eric Mabin as high school boys head basketball coach and high school girls head basketball coach, each for $3,083 for the 2024-25 school year. The board separately approved Shelby Davis as assistant high school girls basketball coach ($1,733) and as middle school girls basketball coach ($1,733) for 2024-25. All coaching contracts were approved by motion recorded in the minutes.

On custodial staffing, the board approved hiring Courtney Malone as a custodian at $16.00 per hour and approved hiring Russell Hines at the same rate. Those hiring motions were approved by the board during the meeting.

The board also took formal action regarding Latoya Gonzalas. By motion, the board moved to consider her employment as job abandonment, recording her last day of work as Oct. 4, 2024; the motion carried. The minutes do not record a statement by Gonzalas in response during the meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
