Council orders replacement for failed municipal pump; staff expect 2–4 week delivery

Staff described steps to try to keep water services running while the new pump arrives. An older motor that had been stored was pulled and tested by town staff (identified in the record as Juan and Graham); the Chair said the amp draw on the older motor was ‘‘almost the same as the brand new’’ unit and that the town may use a refurbished unit as a stopgap.
The Chair said an engineer visited, performed an inspection and told staff the motor was ‘‘blowing up,’’ prompting the replacement order. The council did not take a separate recorded vote on the purchase during the meeting; the Chair described the order and lead time during routine reports.
Council members said they intend to keep at least one spare pump on hand to reduce future downtime and discussed casing and storing a spare so it can be quickly installed if another failure occurs.
