Council told bids open for ballfield lift station; member raises meter-reading and safety complaints

City Manager Larry Tibbs said bids for the ballfield lift station open on Friday and that contractors had visited the site to prepare bids. Tibbs added staff at the plant are working down their list of maintenance items.
During the public-works discussion Councilmember RaShonda Croskey reported resident complaints that some meter readers were "guessing" readings because meters were covered in dirt; she also said a mower had hit a pipe near a meter. Croskey added a constituent reported seeing an employee texting while operating a Gator utility vehicle. Clerk Ashley Wills said she had taken a citizen call and resolved that case; Mayor Wayne Browning asked that Bell be identified after the meeting so the matter could be addressed.
