Dragon Day set for May 30; clerk secures sunscreen dispenser and schedules town water test

The Selectboard heard updates on community events and town health measures at its April 16 meeting.
Dragon Day: Vice Chair Judy Scott said eight people serve on the Dragon Day planning committee and confirmed the event for May 30 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Town Center, with the Schoolhouse or Tyler Dawson—s warehouse as rain locations. Scott said five community partners have committed to the event, which will include live music, games, food, a parade and a play.
Sunscreen dispenser and town health: Town Clerk Lisa Laramee reported the town applied to the 2026 Community Sunscreen Dispenser Program and expects to receive a dispenser for the Pavilion; she said promotional materials are ordered and she will request non-scented sunscreen. Laramee also noted a tick-application program offered by Nature—s Way Pest Control and said she will provide the board with information on ingredients and program details. Laramee said she will arrange for Town Hall—s water to be tested by Endyne in conjunction with the replacement of a water softener.
Health officer update: Chair Joel Colf, acting as Town Health Officer, said repairs at 494 Hemlock Road were completed (pipes repaired under a mobile home and lime applied) and that he will update the Town Health Officer binder with state enforcement and health department contacts.
