Selectboard tables Planning Commission appointment; planning commission sets town-plan hearing dates

The St. George Selectboard deferred an appointment to the Planning Commission after brief discussion at its Feb. 23 meeting. Asher A.J. Menashe moved to appoint Erik Uhnjem to a three-year term, and Rob Crites seconded, but selectboard members raised concerns about a posting related to Mr. Uhnjem's property and asked for additional review. Judy Scott said she had not yet read the proposed Town Plan and requested more time; the board tabled the appointment until the March Selectboard meeting.
Separately, Connie Kendall, chair of the Planning Commission, presented the commission's timeline for updating the Town Plan. The Planning Commission warned two public hearings for March 4 and March 25, 2026. The Selectboard must submit its publication to the Williston Observer by March 12 for inclusion in the March 19 edition; the Selectboard's adoption hearing is scheduled for April 7, 2026. Kendall said the warning will also be posted on the town website and in the three physical posting locations.
The board took no action on the Town Plan itself at this meeting beyond receiving the schedule and acknowledging the public-hearing timeline.
