Resident routing complaints, West Road runoff report and VTrans grant steps discussed

Resident Rich Zoppel reported a box-truck delivery routed by Google Maps traveled over Tate Hill Road and left the lane in poor condition. Board members shared similar anecdotes about navigation apps directing large vehicles onto unsuitable local roads; Joe Nolan asked Jay to explore putting a few signs in Sandgate to warn drivers and mitigate damage.
On a related matter, Jim Henderson summarized an engineer27s report from Bennington County concerning runoff at a West Road property owned by Mike Merrow. Henderson said the report concluded the runoff could not be attributed to the Town and that conditions are the same or better than previously. The board planned to send the engineer27s letter to Merrow by certified mail.
The highway report noted the town submitted a letter of intent for a Vermont Grant & Aid (VTrans) application; Jay will sign the application by May 1. The board also discussed Green-Up Day volunteer coordination and agreed volunteer assignments and disposal rules would be clarified by Linda Schmidt and Julie Robertson.
No formal votes were taken on road improvements or signage at this meeting; the board directed Jay to research signage options and to complete the VTrans paperwork by the stated date.
