Vadnais Heights approves street feasibility studies, stormwater inventory contract and expanded contractor hours

The Vadnais Heights City Council on June 16 approved several infrastructure-related items intended to advance capital planning and construction work.
Public Works Director Jim Hauth presented a proposal to order a feasibility study for a 2027 mill-and-overlay Street Improvements Project (2027-01). Council adopted resolution 26-06-40 by a 3-0 vote to order preparation of the feasibility report.
Hauth also recommended authorizing a professional services agreement with Sambatek, LLC to complete a stormwater asset inventory and GIS management work that would align stormwater infrastructure data with existing sewer and water records. The council authorized the City Administrator to execute an agreement with Sambatek for an amount not to exceed $20,150; the motion passed 3-0.
The council considered a contractor request to expand work hours on Saturdays for Project 2026-01. After Hauth presented options, the council approved allowing Saturday work between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. by motion of Moynagh, seconded by Goebel (Ayes 3, Nays 0).
Separately, the council adopted resolution 26-06-41 ordering preparation of a feasibility report for Labore Road north of Goose Lake Road (the 2026 Labore Road Street Improvement Project). The motion passed 3-0.
The meeting also approved a consent agenda that included routine claims and contract approvals and several event permits by unanimous vote. Public Works Director Hauth reported at staff reports that water main lining has begun and staff hope to restore residents from temporary service within a month.
