Surry selectmen note missing signs, potholes and culvert needs; highway department to remove brush on common

At the July 13 meeting, the Surry selectmen recorded multiple public-works complaints and instructions for follow-up.
A resident told the board that a street sign on Gilsum Road was not replaced when the state upgraded the road; the selectmen said they will notify Durwin Clark. The Dam Road sign is bent and needs repair. The board also noted potholes on Hayward Drive and shoulder damage on the S curves; no repair timelines or cost estimates were recorded.
The board agreed the highway department will remove brush from the town common. The selectmen discussed a proposed driveway cut for Baker on Old Walpole Road and noted the state portion of that driveway will require large culverts. Separately, Brian Johnson of 144 Rt 12A emailed the state District 4 to request driveway/driveway-edge repairs where the state paving left a gap.
No dollar amounts, contractors, or repair schedules were recorded in the minutes; the board directed follow-up notifications and monitoring.
