Hartland Selectboard approves FY27 Windsor County Sheriff contract to expand weekly coverage

Selectboard Vice‑Chair Tom Kennedy moved that the town enter into the contract, "subject to the Town Manager negotiating more than three, with our preference being five days a week for services," with a start date of July 1, 2026; Jim Rielly seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The board discussed forming a Policing and Safety Committee to review the program's pros and cons and to evaluate successes and failures of the sheriff coverage. The minutes record no contract dollar amounts or staffing details beyond hours per week. The Town Manager will negotiate final schedule details and bring them back to the board if material changes to the budget or scope are needed.
