Residents from the Autumn Heights housing development spoke during public comment July 20, alleging retaliation against tenants, inconsistent rule enforcement and other management problems at the property.
At the lectern, one speaker said tenants fear retaliatory evictions and described what she called favoritism and inconsistent enforcement by on-site office staff. The speaker named four on-site employees — Dan Everhart, Annette Remick, Kara Roberts and 'Lori' (identified as the maintenance supervisor) — and alleged staff had entered apartments without permission, shared other tenants’ information with outsiders, banned guests without cause and mishandled rent payments and money orders.
"We've caught them illegally coming into apartments... Basically, what we're asking for is either the resignations or for something to be done to make them follow or be more consistent with the rules," the speaker said.
Council members and staff responded by explaining possible next steps: the speaker was advised to begin with the property’s board and the local low-rent housing commission. The chair offered to provide contact information for staff (Chad and a city staff contact) who could help identify the proper procedural channels for complaints and appeals. No formal council action was taken at the meeting.
What happens next: Council offered to connect the residents with staff contacts for complaint procedures. Residents stated they hold signed statements and other documentation; any formal city intervention would depend on complaint filings and jurisdictional authority of the housing board or federal oversight bodies.
