Culbertson council moves ahead with sewer-rate increases and adopts budget and wage resolutions

Following a rate-review process by Montana Rural Water and staff analysis, council approved Resolution 540 to increase sewer rates; the motion carried with no objection after a public hearing process was scheduled in April.
At its June 8 meeting the council approved three budget-related resolutions: Resolution 541 (amend the FY 2025—26 budget), Resolution 542 (set personnel wages for FY 2026—27) and Resolution 543 (approve the preliminary FY 2026—27 budget). Each motion was seconded and recorded as carrying with no objection.
Council members discussed financial implications of the bathhouse project while adopting budget adjustments and noted outstanding revenue (county tax receipts) and remaining shortfall figures in the clerk—s report. The clerk reported a projected bathhouse budget shortage of $35,641.08 before May's county tax assessment and an estimated assessed amount to be collected of $22,352.38, leaving a potential deficit of approximately $11,009.22 if all taxes are collected.
