Council hears updates on Danford pool study, potential municipal ballot language and fire-department programs

Parks staff said concept designs and background materials for the Danford pool study are posted on the city's website and encouraged residents to review the materials and complete an online survey to inform design decisions. Finance staff said they are working with parks and legal counsel to draft ballot language should the council choose to place a municipal-pool question on the November ballot; staff noted there are deadlines to meet the county auditor's timetable and that council would have multiple cycles to finalize the language. The same staff reported that the city’s bond rating call with S&P returned a stable A+ rating for the proposed borrowing.
Fire Department announcements included a free community "Fire and Splash" event on July 25, the Station 3 groundbreaking on July 29, and an eight-week Citizens Fire Academy for adults (applications due Aug. 7; limited seats). "Applications are due by August 7," the fire chief said, describing the program's schedule and eligibility.
Council did not take formal votes on these informational items; staff will proceed with outreach, application processing and any actions required to place ballot language before council for approval.
