Treasure County commissioners discussed an open event coordinator position on Feb. 3 and agreed to conduct interviews for two applicants.
Staff described the posted job as combining event coordination and routine cleaning duties for the community center; commissioners said the combined workload could lead to a near full-time schedule and that applicants should understand both responsibilities. "It was posted as a combined ... cleaning and the event coordinating activities," a staff member said, explaining why some applicants hesitated to submit applications.
Commissioners discussed potential interview logistics and agreed to set up interview panels with one commissioner and a hiring board member present; they asked staff to contact applicants and arrange interviews between the current date and the following Friday. Commissioners emphasized the need to clarify whether the hire would supervise daily cleaning tasks or focus primarily on events, and whether the county should continue to guarantee minimum hours for janitorial coverage.
No formal hiring motion was made at the meeting; commissioners directed staff to schedule interviews and report back with candidate feedback and a recommended hiring timeline. The board also noted event scheduling conflicts (community-center events and a Fire Hall event on March 7) that make it preferable to have a coordinator in place before early March.
