County employee Will to leave March 31; commissioners accept resignation

A Treasure County employee announced that their last day will be March 31 and said they would assemble paperwork, passwords and other materials to hand off to a successor.

The employee, who addressed the board at the meeting, said they had told staff they would try to give at least a month’s notice and planned to remain available to answer questions after leaving. "Plan with that is to have my last day being March 31," the employee said.

Commissioners discussed timing around the March 4 filing deadline for the seat and the possibility of appointing a replacement if only one person files. One commissioner said the board could wait to see who files and, if necessary, appoint an applicant to finish the term. Several commissioners and staff offered to help with the transition and training.

A motion to accept the resignation was made and approved by voice vote. "I make a motion to accept his resignation," one commissioner said; another called for the question and commissioners responded "Aye," after which the chair announced the motion carried.

The departing employee said they had contacted a congressional office about grant point-of-contact changes and had named Nicole and Hannah as the contacts on those grants. They also said they would continue to be reachable by personal phone for follow-up questions during the transition.

Next steps: commissioners will monitor filings through the March 4 deadline and address appointment or interim coverage as needed at upcoming meetings.
