Sandgate Selectboard readies RFP for professional audit; mailing to three firms planned

At a Feb. 6 special meeting, the Sandgate Selectboard reviewed a draft cover letter for a request for proposals to hire a professional auditor to examine the town’s finances.
Selectboard member Linda Schmidt presented the draft and shared it with the board for approval. The minutes note that the board voted last year to schedule an audit and that the Auditors met with several accounting firms over the summer.
Assistant Treasurer Jessica Stevens is scheduled to prepare the RFP mailing on Monday; the mailing will go to three firms that have shown interest in performing the audit. The minutes do not record a formal current vote to award a contract, only that the RFP process will move forward with the mailing.
Sandy Reidy reported that she has submitted all financial reports to the Auditors for inclusion in the Town Report, which the auditors will use in their work. The selectboard did not set an audit start date or contract award timeline at the special meeting.
The board adjourned at 6:20 p.m.; its next meeting is set for Monday, Feb. 16, at 6:00 p.m. in Sandgate Town Hall.
