The Wolfeboro Select Board approved a draft code of ethics on April 22 and asked that the New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA) flowchart on the Right to Know be attached and distributed to committees.
Board members discussed conflict-of-interest scenarios and the proper use of electronic devices during meetings. Several members said they want to prevent off-record or side communications (texts, emails) that introduce new information to the board during a meeting. Linda proposed language discouraging cell-phone use and specifying that board members should not use devices to convey or accept substantive proposals from the public during the meeting.
After debate the board moved to approve the code-of-ethics draft dated 4/22/26 with the NHMA meeting flowchart attached. The motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
Members also reviewed a municipal committee chair guide and instructed staff to append materials (including a packet of documents intended for committee chairs) and to circulate those materials with future committee packets.
