City auditors told the City of Alice council July 21 that the city's financial statements for the year ended Sept. 30, 2025, received an unmodified — or "clean" — audit opinion.
"You received an unmodified opinion on your financial statements," auditor Patrick Hall (speaker 7) told the council, adding, "What that means is it's a clean opinion." Hall said auditors found no internal-control weaknesses and that material audit adjustments recommended by auditors were processed by finance staff.
Hall also noted the audit included single-audit procedures because federal and state award expenditures exceeded the threshold that now triggers additional audit work. "Both of those opinions — they read different than the financial statement opinion but basically the first one is talking about compliance with the programs that were identified as major programs that we audited," Hall said, and he reported no findings in those sections.
Council members and staff thanked the finance department for timely cooperation and for cleaning up capital-asset schedules. The auditor encouraged councilors to read the management discussion and analysis and the footnotes for additional context and said he is available for follow-up questions.
