The Mexico Beach City Council approved a task order for Dewberry to provide construction-phase engineering and inspection services for the jetty project, updating a prior task order figure from $88,000 to $119,867.
City Administrator Bob summarized the need: the original task order approved over a year ago was $88,000, but "prices have increased" and the new request is $119,867 to cover shop-drawing review, inspections, pay-application review, scheduling coordination and other construction-phase tasks needed to maintain compliance with FEMA and state regulators. "We sorely need them to review the shop drawings, to make inspections, do the pay applications, do the scheduling coordination," he said.
Councilors raised questions about contract provisions that require turtle monitors. One councilor asked whether the named monitors would be available and whether the city might need to hire outside people if they were not; staff said there was no current indication the two named monitors would be unavailable and that the availability issue would be followed up on.
A councilor moved to approve the Dewberry task order for construction-phase services for $119,867; another councilor seconded the motion. The council recorded its approval in roll call: Mister Fasigle: Yes; Mister Cox: Yes; Miss Logan: Yes; Miss Helmick: Yes.
Next steps: Dewberry will undertake the construction-phase tasks under the approved task order; staff will follow up on monitor availability and publish a plan snapshot in a weekly report.
