Board approves facility rentals and personnel changes; fire-department event approved with fee waiver and one abstention

The Oelrichs School District 23-3 Board of Education on Oct. 21 approved multiple operational and personnel items, including community facility rentals, surplus equipment disposal and staff pay adjustments.
The board approved an Application for Rental of School Facilities to Santana Young Man for a fundraising volleyball tournament on Oct. 27 (motion by Katie Merdanian, seconded by Lance Tlustos). The board also approved an Application for Rental of School Facilities from the Oelrichs Volunteer Fire Department for fundraising events on Dec. 6–7; the minutes record the fees were waived and the use of alcohol on the premises was allowed. Board member Marty Schommer abstained on the vote regarding the fire-department rental; the motion otherwise carried.
On surplus property, the board declared a list of computers submitted as surplus and authorized proper disposal (motion by Dave Osmotherly, seconded by Katie Merdanian).
On personnel, the board approved a pay increase to $16.60 per hour for paraprofessional Ellen White (motion by Katie Merdanian, seconded by Dave Osmotherly) and set the Bus Monitor rate to $25 per route (motion by Dave Osmotherly, seconded by Lance Tlustos). The minutes record the motions as carried but do not include roll-call tallies.
