Council reviews draft finance-officer ad, plans fall start and August interviews

Council members reviewed a draft job announcement for a finance officer prepared for their consideration and discussed advertising strategy and timing. The chair said the draft was a starting place after nearly two decades without a new posting; members generally agreed the draft covered the essentials and suggested keeping the public ad concise.

Members discussed a target advertising start of Sept. 8 and set application deadlines to allow interviews at the August meeting. Because Aug. 1 falls on a Saturday according to the discussion, the council agreed to list July 31 as the closing date in public notices. Options for advertising included placement in the municipality magazine and area newspapers; the chair said Rhonda would circulate the ad and prepare a cost breakdown for members to review.

The council noted it could not take a final advertising decision at the current meeting because the item was not on the agenda for formal action. Members suggested flexibility to adjust closing dates if few applicants were received by mid-July.
