The Oelrichs School District 23-3 Board of Education on Sept. 16 approved a contract with Diehl Group Architects to provide inspection services for the high school project, authorizing the total cost estimate for five phases of work plus travel-related expenses not to exceed $34,080. The board recorded that additional costs for intrusive testing by a contractor would be borne separately.
The motion to accept the Diehl Group estimate was made by Dave Osmotherly and seconded by Marty Schommer; the motion carried. Superintendent Dr. Mitchell Stone presented the contract options to the board during the meeting in the high school science room.
The board also discussed temporary storage options and approved purchasing a shipping container at $7,500 and authorizing additional costs to prepare the site. That motion was carried after a second from Schommer; board member Katie Merdanian recorded an opposition to the storage purchase. The minutes note the board had received quotes for other storage options but approved the container purchase for immediate needs.
Board President John Cope called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.; the contract and storage votes were recorded as part of the meeting’s old business on the high school construction project.
