Principals report end-of-year events; district gets 'Amplify' grant and roofing nears completion

Elementary Principal Tucker told the board that the last day of elementary school had occurred that day, afternoon awards drew greater family attendance, kindergarten round-up used an 'open house' format and preschool graduation was moved inside due to weather. Tucker also said the district received a grant for the 'Amplify' data-management system and plans fall teacher training before the new school year; the district is reviewing a new reading curriculum.

Secondary Principal Swennes reported 8th-grade graduation that evening went well. High-school finals were scheduled across the next two days (three finals each day), academic awards were set for the following afternoon and high-school graduation was scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. As activity director, Swennes also reported athletic awards scheduled for the next night and strong results at state track, including several personal records; one of two shot clocks has been installed.

Superintendent Robinson said an industry field trip went well and that roofing work is "closer to being done." Robinson added the district has interviews scheduled next week for the open secondary science position.

Visitor John Hill of the Ranchland News offered a brief public comment, wishing everyone a "Happy Memorial Day." The meeting concluded after the board approved claims and accounts and President Smith adjourned at 8:50 p.m.

No policy changes or formal votes on curriculum issues occurred at the meeting; the board only received updates and the superintendent noted next steps for hiring and facilities follow-up.
