Broken Bow council approves two lot splits, One and Six Year Plan and TIF contract for six apartments

At its Oct. 26 meeting, the Broken Bow City Council approved a slate of planning and development items, including two lot-split resolutions, the city's One and Six Year Plan and a TIF contract for a private apartment project. The actions were recorded in the meeting minutes as Resolutions 2021-19 (Jim and Kathy Varney lot split), 2021-20 (Dan and Terrie Scofield lot split) and 2021-21 (One and Six Year Plan).
Each lot split was the subject of a short public hearing that the council opened and then closed before voting. The council approved Resolution 2021-19 (Varney) on a motion moved by David Schmidt and seconded by Larry Miller. The council approved Resolution 2021-20 (Scofield) after a brief hearing. Both lot-split votes were recorded as unanimous.
The council also approved Resolution 2021-21 adopting its One and Six Year Plan.
Finally, the council approved Resolution 2021-11, a TIF contract with MW Real Estate Investment Group, LLC. City Administrator Dan Knoell told the council the project had already been approved by the Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) Board and the Planning Commission. The TIF contract authorizes MW Real Estate Investment Group to build six apartments, each with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The minutes record the TIF vote as carrying with Councilmembers Jacob Holcomb, David Schmidt and Larry Miller voting aye; Chris Myers recorded an abstention.
