Wymore moves toward demolition of two dilapidated properties; contractor and grant timelines set

The Wymore City Council heard updates Nov. 6 about plans to remove dilapidated structures and took procedural steps to prepare demolition agreements and funding arrangements.
Utilities Superintendent Tim Sedlacek said he will send a demolition agreement to Rudloff, the owner of 518 N. 11th St., to secure funds that the city will hold to pay contractors for asbestos inspection/remediation (Bockmann) and demolition (Tiemann). The council agreed to place a demolition contract on the next meeting agenda.
City Attorney Andy Carothers said he submitted a report to the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy and expects to have the structure at 217 S. 7th St. demolished and disposed of by April. He also noted that the grant funds associated with remediation must be spent by December 2026.
Carothers asked whether the council wanted to apply again for the Downtown Revitalization Grant; the council decided to take up that question in January because the application deadline is Feb. 1.
No demolition motions were finalized at the Nov. 6 meeting; the council moved to prepare agreements and return the contract for formal approval at a future meeting.
