Wymore council approves permits, proclamation, Keno transfer and fire training

The council approved minutes of the previous meeting and voted to approve claims and payroll with the exception of two checks handled separately. Check number 30917 was later approved 3-0 with Council member Max Allen recorded as abstaining; check number 30924 was approved 3-0 with Curt Oblinger recorded as abstaining.
Two requests to serve alcohol at the Community Center were approved. Saphire Roland and Antonio Mendieta were granted permission to serve alcohol at a wedding on April 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., including use of the beer garden; the motion carried 4-0. A separate request from Josh Schmidt to serve alcohol on March 14, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. for a celebration, including use of the beer garden, was also approved 4-0.
The council approved a request from Mike Sciandra of the Nebraska Council on Problem Gambling to allow Mayor Collin Meints to proclaim March as Problem Gambling Awareness Month; the motion carried 4-0.
On a finance item, City Clerk Janet Riensche requested the transfer of $100,000 from the Keno checking account to the Keno money market account; the council approved the transfer by a 4-0 vote.
Wymore Fire Chief Mark Meint requested permission for six members of Wymore Fire and Rescue to attend the Nebraska Fire Chiefs Association Training Symposium in York on March 21 (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The council approved sending six members and covering lunch by a 4-0 vote.
The meeting adjourned at 8:07 p.m. after a motion by Council member Susan Sapp.
