At its Nov. 7 called meeting, the Appling County Board of Commissioners approved a set of administrative items for 2024, including official office closures, the regular monthly meeting schedule and employee Christmas bonuses.
On a motion by Commissioner Charlie Leggett, seconded by Commissioner Daryl Edwards, the board adopted the 2024 official county office closures. The board then approved a regular monthly meeting schedule (first Tuesday of each month, with calendar adjustments for January and September) on a motion by Commissioner Randy Sellers, seconded by Commissioner Doug Harris.
The board also reviewed previous years’ holiday bonus amounts and, on a motion by Commissioner Doug Harris seconded by Commissioner Randy Sellers, approved the same bonus amounts as the prior year: $500 for full-time employees and $250 for part-time employees. The board specified no bonus for county commissioners or constitutional officers.
Votes at a glance: Approved unanimously (six yes, zero no) for each item.
The approvals set administrative calendars and pay practices for 2024; any future changes to bonuses or meeting dates would require a later motion by the board.
