West Stockbridge dog-park committee finalizes grand-opening plans; signs approved, volunteers recruited

The West Stockbridge Dog Park Advisory Committee met Sept. 20 to finalize logistics for the park's grand opening, confirming signage approvals, volunteer coordination and event supplies.
Committee Chair Michael Bolognino said the town's select board approved grand-opening and permanent directional and rules signs on Sept. 15 and that organizers had sent an outreach email to more than 100 people to recruit attendees and volunteers. "An email has gone out to 100+ individuals to attend/volunteer," Bolognino said.
The committee discussed event details including vendor promotion and complimentary refreshments. Ned Rosenthal offered to coordinate volunteer shifts, and Roni Kramer was designated to collect $12 reimbursements for long-sleeve T-shirt orders on behalf of the Friends of the West Stockbridge Dog Park.
Committee members noted several outstanding logistics items. Roni Kramer asked about the delivery schedule for benches and a water fountain; Bolognino said Clark will continue reseeding but the committee does not yet have arrival dates for those installations. Heather Hicks reported that the memorial-brick manufacturer is experiencing equipment problems and has sent samples of two alternative customization options that have not yet arrived; the committee will decide on bricks after reviewing samples and may seek a different vendor if delays persist.
The committee reported approximately $5,800 in the Friends of the West Stockbridge Dog Park account and said signage costs have already been paid from that account. Sharon Vidal agreed to compile and circulate a list of event supplies the committee still needs, including tablecloths, napkins, garbage bags, tables for food and raffle items, and folding chairs.
The group plans further outreach to local officials, past committee members and neighboring towns; invitations have been sent to a mix of local officials, Marilyn Glasser and representatives from other Massachusetts dog parks, and the committee agreed to include past member Frank Alfonso and additional business contacts in outreach.
No formal votes were taken. The committee set a follow-up meeting for Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. and adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
