Allen M. Alger, Orwell’s road foreman, reported to the Select Board that the town will receive an insurance check for the 2017 Mack truck and that the deductible has already been paid. He said further body work will likely be required in the spring. Alger also reported the 2019 truck suffered a blown high‑pressure hose during the last storm but that crews used a spare to keep the vehicle serviceable.
Chair Andrea Treadway said running the town “takes a lot of money” and reminded the board that members will work on the budget at the next Select Board meeting on Jan. 12, 2026. Treadway and board member Joe Pouliot are scheduled to meet with the MERP consultant, the general contractor and Chris Dundon to review the town HVAC on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Office.
No formal action was taken on vehicle replacement or capital purchases during the special meeting; board members discussed interim repairs and potential future needs. The meeting minutes note that the deductible has been paid and a check is expected but do not specify the claim amount or exact timing for repairs.
