Rose Jaffe, a local artist, presented a draft concept for a Hispanic mural to the Town of Edmonston during the July 1 work session. The design includes garden and bouquet imagery, a table setting, cultural elements from South and Central America, a soccer reference and bilingual wording translated as “From Many Roots one Home.”
Jaffe said the mural surface would be primed and painted with long-lasting exterior paint and that she will follow up with a proposed schedule to complete the work. Mayor Tracy R. Gant described the mural as likely to be attractive and to draw people to the trail. Council Member Betsy McCauley suggested adding an element representing the state — the Black-Eyed Susan.
The item was discussed as a concept review; the council did not take a formal vote or set final design requirements during the work session. Jaffe is expected to return with a timeline and any further details needed for council approval.
