Appling County commissioners approved the final contract payment for the new Aquatic Center during their March 7 meeting after county staff confirmed completion of final items and warranty documentation.
County Manager Al Meadows reported he had received the warranty information and that "all final items had been completed satisfactorily." He told the board the warranty period is "one year from the date the final check is written" and that "The final payment due is $229,990.83." Commissioner Theodore Wilkerson moved to approve the payment; Commissioner Daryl Edwards seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.
County staff said the payment completes the construction contract and that the Aquatic Center has been heavily used since opening, with later recreation-department remarks noting high community utilization.
