Village of Alanson approves LAMA 2026 budget, keeps contributions at $8,500

The Village of Alanson approved the Littlefield Alanson Management Authority’s proposed 2026 budget at a joint Village/Township/LAMA meeting on Dec. 8, 2025. Village President Jamie Breithaupt moved to accept the budget as presented; Trustee Mark Fairbairn seconded and the council voted unanimously 5-0 to approve it.
LAMA member Damien Henning presented the budget and reviewed unexpected 2025 expenses and projects completed last year. Henning said he expects the largest increase in 2026 will be in natural gas and electricity costs and outlined several planned facility items: a new kitchen range (estimated $4,800), replacement of three exterior doors (estimated $13,500) and exterior painting (estimated $23,500). "I expect the largest increase will be the natural gas and electricity expenses for 2026," Henning said.
Henning also reported rental income of $2,900 for the year. Township Clerk Sondra Festerling suggested increasing the Township and Village contributions to allow more updates to the kitchen; the record shows Henning proposed keeping yearly contributions the same for 2026 at $8,500.
Township Supervisor Doug Larson said the township expects FEMA reimbursement for some expenses, including a generator transfer-switch expense, but no specific reimbursement amounts were provided during the meeting. After the presentation, President Breithaupt moved to accept the budget; the roll-call vote recorded Trustees Mark Fairbairn, Gail Greenwell, Scott Latva, Wayne McPhall and President Jamie Breithaupt voting yes. The motion carried 5-0.
President Breithaupt then moved to adjourn; Trustee Wayne McPhall seconded and the council voted unanimously to adjourn. The meeting ended at 5:57 p.m.
