Commissioners authorize trade-ins and $538,346 purchase for two motor graders

Appling County commissioners voted unanimously to proceed with the trade-in and replacement of two motor graders at their March 7 meeting.
County Manager Al Meadows told the board that county motor graders are on a five-year rotation and that two units were due this year. He said, "The cost for the two new graders, minus the trade-in leaves $538,346 and is reflected in the approved FY2023 budget." Commissioner Doug Harris moved to proceed with the trade-in as quoted; Commissioner Randy Sellers seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The county currently has eight graders on rotation and expects to replace grader 00094 (4th District) and grader 00081 (2nd District). The purchase is budgeted for FY2023; county staff will complete the trade-in and procurement steps.
