Commissioners approve routine administrative items including surplus declarations, OCR service and FAA letter

The Dubois County Commissioners addressed a number of routine administrative and operational items during the July 6 meeting.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented equipment and device lists from several departments for surplus disposition, and the board voted unanimously to declare the listed items surplus. Morton also presented the annual Covered Bridge Certification to the State Comptroller—s Office and the board certified that Dubois County does not have a covered bridge.
Recorder Jackie McPherron requested adding Fidlar OCR technology to convert recorded document images into searchable text in the county—s Bastion database; the commissioners approved the Recorder signing the sales order and adding the service. Commissioner Blessinger presented a letter expressing local-business concerns about a proposed cell tower near Huntingburg Airport and the board unanimously approved the letter to be sent to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Other administrative items discussed included the Holland dumpster site land purchase (reported complete), the party-in-the-park outreach for the county comprehensive plan and a note that the county—s solar moratorium will expire in December.
Next steps: Staff will proceed with surplus disposition per county policy, the Recorder will execute the Fidlar sales order, and the FAA letter will be transmitted as approved.
