The project is part of the city's Complete Streets initiative and aims to reduce travel speeds and improve pedestrian safety; three quotes were solicited and Top Quality Asphalt's bid of $63,770 was accepted. Commissioners and staff discussed design details, including concerns that proposed bulbouts might be placed too close together, whether the traffic circle should include a curb, and adding a speed table between Mackay Boulevard and Echo to further slow traffic.
City staff agreed to revisit the engineering site plan with the transportation engineer before final construction, and the City Manager was authorized to negotiate and execute related construction documents.
