Sharon DRB schedules Double C site visit, raises driveway access and subdivision-enforcement questions

At its April 9 meeting the Town of Sharon Development Review Board discussed driveway access concerns at the Double C property on Chapel Hill Road, scheduled a site visit, and reviewed possible edits to the town’s subdivision rules and enforcement procedures.
Frances Mize said she would notify the DRB when the Selectboard schedules a public hearing about driveway access. The DRB set a site visit for May 11 at 4:30 p.m.; Paul Kristensen asked to be notified in advance for visits scheduled on Sundays.
Separately, the board discussed proposed edits to subdivision definitions, changes to the subdivision amendment process, and ways to enforce conditions of approved subdivisions if property use departs from approved plans. John Roe said he would consult the town’s legal counsel on enforcement options. Board members also discussed tightening the definitions of primary and secondary use and more specific residential and commercial categories.
John Roe moved to transition DRB business into Planning Commission business; Dee Gish seconded and the board voted in favor. Dee Gish moved to approve the March 11 and March 19 meeting minutes; John Roe and Paul Kristensen seconded and the board approved the minutes. John Roe then moved to adjourn at 8:48 p.m.; Dee Gish seconded.
John Roe also noted that the Selectboard passed flood-hazard bylaw amendments on April 7; Frances Mize will update the bylaws and post the amended language to the town website by April 28. Dee Gish highlighted a Vermont Law School event on April 22 where Ned Swanberg from the Department of Environmental Conservation will speak on flood-zone mapping and suggested the SPC attend.
