At 3:05 p.m., the committee called the meeting to order and unanimously approved the agenda after a motion by Nicola Shipman and a second from Vince Gross.
Committee members reported that Vince Gross and Jack visited the garage and flagged a possible encroachment on an abutting property to the north based on surveys. Members also noted that the well and dry well are remarkably close to each other and to the building, a factor that could affect siting or require mitigation.
Allen Wight said the primary issue is space: the existing garage footprint is suboptimal for the town's operational needs. During discussion, Vince Gross asked whether the town could identify an alternative municipal site. Ted Austin asked how a phased construction approach would affect functions; Allen Wight said winter operations would be most constrained by phasing, underscoring operational risks if work is staged.
Ted Austin suggested considering sprung structures for temporary operational support or outbuildings; Vince Gross reiterated that the current building is too small for the town's needs. The group emphasized that the current sand pile location is important to operations and could complicate construction or relocation plans.
The committee agreed that Nicola Shipman will work to obtain approval for a building inspection to evaluate the structural integrity of the existing garage. Members also discussed property acquisition options and the possibility of producing a flow chart to illustrate recommendations and potential outcomes.
The committee set its next meeting for Monday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.; minutes were submitted by Nicola Shipman.
