West Stockbridge approves addendum to shared Fire/EMS agreement with Stockbridge

Select Board member Toby Casey reported that the existing contract did not account for the four new firefighters who must be hired and trained prior to the long-term agreement. The Town had previously approved paying 40% of the cost to hire two firefighters, a provision not reflected in the current agreement; Town Counsel and Stockbridge Town Administrator Mike Canales worked on an addendum to address that omission. Toby moved to approve the addendum; Kathleen Keresey seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Kathleen noted the intermunicipal agreement creates an Oversight Board requiring a Select Board member from each town; she has served in that role and asked Toby to assume the position going forward. The minutes do not record specific dollar amounts or a detailed implementation schedule beyond the addendum approval.
The Board will return with the finalized 10-year agreement for formal approval after Town Counsel completes its review.
