Carleton council approves sewer operations work and buys ferric acid for treatment plant

Jason Ingram of Fleis & VandenBrink reported the engineering team completed a walk-through of sewer facilities, identified punch-list items and said there had been no power-loss incidents; he also noted ferric acid had been delivered to the plant on May 12, 2025. Following that update, the council accepted a proposal from F&V Operations for additional operations and maintenance of pump stations. The motion to accept the F&V quote was made by Councilmember Debbie Stolkey and supported by Councilmember Lena Kaczmarek; the motion passed on a roll-call vote.
The council also approved a contractor quote from Doublejack to replace a mini-powerzone feeding a heat trace, with work scheduled to be completed before July 1. Councilmember Jim Geiermann moved the approval and Councilmember Terry Burkardt supported it.
Finally, the council approved purchasing ferric acid for the treatment plant. The supply is purchased approximately every 16 months; the vendor price recorded in the minutes was $9,972.83. The council approved splitting the payment into two installments ($5,000 and $4,972.83) on a motion by Lena Kaczmarek supported by Robert Pernicano.
These actions were presented as operational needs to maintain wastewater treatment continuity; the council took recorded roll-call votes for each approval.
