City Attorney Andy Carothers informed the Wymore City Council on Jan. 21 that Cathy Rakes signed a quitclaim deed before the meeting transferring one property connected to ongoing blight enforcement work and that a complaint has been filed against AGC Enterprises (listed in the record as Adam Cooks LLC). Carothers said the city will pursue a Rural Revitalization Grant for downtown cleanup and will ask the contractor to pay half of the required 15% match if the grant is awarded; he cautioned the final cost share depends on how much asbestos is found inside the structures.
Ron Thompson completed asbestos inspections on three houses, Carothers reported, and the two buildings on 10th Street were identified as needing abatement. Carothers said he would verify whether either downtown building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places before the council advances demolition or remediation steps.
The council received a copy of the complaint against Adam Cooks LLC; no formal motion to approve demolition or expenditure was recorded at the meeting. Council members did not set a timeline for abatement work but discussed using grant funding to offset remediation costs if asbestos removal is required.
