Administration described the pilot as a way to provide state‑aligned curriculum and full ADA attendance funding for students who elect to enroll in the district's virtual program while allowing them to participate in athletics and fine‑arts events. "This gives students an opportunity to participate and gives the district full ADA for their attendance," an administrator said while explaining the difference between enrollment in the academy and non‑enrolled participation.
District staff reported that approximately 50 students had been fully approved for the pilot, with additional conditional enrollments pending records or meetings; staff said they expect to reach the stated pilot cap of about 75 students. Trustees discussed the enrollment window and next administrative steps. The board voted in favor (six yes, none opposed).
Next steps: staff will continue enrollment processing for the pilot and report back with participation and recapture data as the pilot begins.
