Jon Spice of Oconto County Emergency Management provided a template to update the town's Disaster Plan and Emergency Operations Plan, and the board reviewed the draft at the July 22 special meeting.
Board members examined the template with input from Fire Chief Giese and Town Foreman Melton. After discussion the board tabled the item to the next meeting to allow time for Plan Commission members and town staff to review and suggest edits.
Chair Carey-Mielke presented a proposal to create a parking lot at the park area near County W and Railroad Street and discussed planned playground upgrades. Attendees were permitted to comment; board members indicated support for playground upgrades but did not take any motions on the parking proposal.
The chair also read a draft of Plan Commission procedures and requested that Plan Commission members review the document and provide input at the next meeting. The board tabled formal adoption of the procedures pending that feedback.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.; Clerk Lynn Kauzlaric prepared the minutes and posted them Aug. 9, 2025. The board did not set specific deadlines in the minutes for returning the disaster plan or the plan commission procedures.
